Earl Simmons, 82, of Waynesboro, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, at the Augusta Health, Shenandoah House, Fishersville. He was also an accomplished author and frequently spoke on civic issues. Following cremation there will be no services. Joan Floyd Kershner, 71 of Raphine died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at her home. Beasley is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Pat; two daughters, Tracey and Lisa; three sons, John Jr., George, and Chris; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. There were always gifts under the tree from Aunt Ethel. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle, according to a press release. She was also very involved and played a big part in the lives of her siblings and their families. He advocated for journalism and helped establish the Hampton Inn in Staunton and numerous education programs at area high schools.
